Creme 1.0

Well, my first skin for FM 2008 & WWSM 2008, Creme, is almost complete, it is being tested now by a few folks over at FMGLive

There are quite a few new ideas in it, and on my MacBook it has been performing really well.

The purpose of the skin was to come up with new ways to display certain panels and other information, with the minimum of screen switching and scrolling.

I play FM/WWSM on a MacBook Pro @ 1440x900, but I have designed the skin too work at the minimum 1024x768 resolution as well. The following screen shots are at 1024x768.

The Header

The header on the squad screen ( and a few other screens) will display the team you are viewing stadium. I originally wanted too display team kits here, as there are some great kit makers out there, and its a shame to have their hard work only show up in a few places, sadly, I have not been able too come up with a markup hack to achieve this.

The Tree

I have changed nearly all the design elements from the default skin, including menus and box borders etc. I have tried too make it as easy on the eyes as possible. You know us FM managers tend too play for hours at a time ;)

The Skinners Mate skin, when released, will be a basic flat design, with high contrast graphics too help the graphic designer easily identify the graphical elements that they wish to change.

Also in the Skinners Mate there will be images of the various graphical elements with a directory structure overlay, intended to help designers find where the same graphical elements are being reused.

Right, moving on.....

The Player Profile Screen

Two changes here. Firstly, the Analyzer, normally hidden away, and a fine handy dandy tool too quickly see a visual representation of the player, has been brought out into the main area. The teams logo appears in the middle of this.

The more observant of you, will also notice that you can now display twp player pictures ! I have opted too use a more stylized picture of the player in action. Adds a little more atmosphere to the game, I think.

Next post.....Match Day!

I've been using turnstyle for a long, long time... and felt like a change so tested your Creme skin out. It has so much potential and could very nearly be my favourite skin... the problem is that I cannot see the stadiums in the background on match day. Everything else I could handle, although I'm also used to having the stadiums on the squad screen, etc. The idea you had for kits at the top of the squad screen would be brilliant, by the way. Anyway, I just want to see the stadium background on match day (as you seem to have in your screenshots, which is weird) and not just at the top of the squad screen. I guess I'll try to find a way to do it myself. Good work. :)
